Paste athletes straight from Excel
No file wrangling. Copy the rows in your spreadsheet, click Paste, and Djaho works out the columns for you — it detects tabs or commas, matches headings like “Van” or “Surname” automatically, and shows you the mapping with sample values before anything is saved. CSV files and PDF start sheets import too.
Copy rows from Excel or any spreadsheet — include the header row.
Next →| Our field | Your column | Sample value |
|---|---|---|
| First name | First Name ✓ | Katie |
| Last name | Surname ✓ | Boot |
| Team | Team ✓ | Hogwarts School |
| Date of birth | DOB ✓ | 2009-11-18 |
| Gender | Gender ✓ | F |
All columns matched automatically. Age categories are worked out from date of birth.
Import 214 athletesRe-importing the same file updates only what changed — no duplicates. Djaho even fixes the small stuff: type “hoerskool” and it quietly becomes “hoërskool”.
A school sends a corrected list
| Athlete | What happens | Keep? |
|---|---|---|
| Arthur Dulac | Updated date of birth corrected | — |
| Gawain Orkney | New added to the team | — |
| Percy Vale | Not on the list offered for removal | ☑ tick to keep |
| Lance Ashby | Already finished a race — never removed | 🔒 |
New names are added and changed details updated in place; bibs and races stay as they are. Anyone who has already finished is never removed.
Races, and everyone in the right one
Build the programme once — a race per age and gender group, over one day or a whole weekend — and athletes drop into the right race by age and gender. Anyone left over appears in an Unallocated list, and one click checks that nobody is in the wrong race.
| # | Time | Race | Entered | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 09:00 | Girls U13 · 2 km | 38 | Finished |
| 2 | 09:25 | Boys U13 · 2 km | 41 | Finished |
| 3 | 09:55 | Girls U15 · 3 km Next | 33 | Pending |
| 4 | 10:25 | Boys U15 · 3 km | 36 | Pending |
| 5 | 11:00 | Senior Women · 6 km | 19 | Pending |
Once the day has started, the race list opens at the next race to capture.
| Athlete | Now in | Move to |
|---|---|---|
| Wendy Moira | Boys U15 | Girls U15 |
| Peter Lyle | Girls U13 | Boys U13 |
It moves, it never deletes — nobody is taken out of a race without being put into another.
Move 2 athletesAdding a selection of athletes to a race tells you what doesn’t fit before it writes — “23 of these 34 are boys; this race is Girls 19” — so a mistake is a choice, never an accident.
Entry rules checked for you
Set the clauses from your own rule book once — team sizes, how many each team may enter, the age group a year of birth allows — and Djaho checks every team before the day, so a protest is answered before it is made.
| Team | Check | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Hogwarts School | Total contingent (max 108) | 98 · OK |
| Narnia Combined | Minimum team size · Girls U15 (4) | Only 3 — too thin to score |
| Camelot High | Per age group limit (6) | Within limit |
| Neverland High | Age group from year of birth | 1 athlete: born 2012, entered U17 |
Everything prints on the Entry Exceptions sheet — one page per team, ready to walk through with the manager.
Relays, done properly New
A relay is a race in its own right. The squad carries the bib, runners go on legs, labels print per leg, and start sheets read as crews. A runner can also have an individual race on the same day, and mixed relays warn you if the leg order doesn’t alternate.

Capture built for a real finish line
Two fast phases. As runners cross the line, click their bib or zap a barcode — that locks the finishing order. Then enter times in a second pass, with validation catching anything odd. Works on the network or completely offline.
Tap finishers as they cross
…or scan the barcode on the athlete's bib label. Sounds confirm every capture, so you never look down.
Finish order → times
Type 1242 for 12:42. Forgiving, and built for a real finish funnel.
Electronic timing, two laptops, no network
Using timing gear? Point Djaho at the timing laptop’s folder and finish times flow in instead of being typed. One laptop can scan placings while another types times — live, on the same database. And if the finish line has no network at all, capture on a laptop and hand results back by file.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Timing laptop | 192.168.1.40 · Browse… |
| Shared folder | timing |
| Status | Reachable · 12 timing files |
Djaho even prints a list of file names to hand the timing operator, one per race.
| Machine | Role | Doing |
|---|---|---|
| Desk laptop | Host | Results & printing |
| Finish laptop 1 | Workstation | Scanning placings |
| Finish laptop 2 | Workstation | Typing times |
Everyone sees the same race, live. If the timing laptop drops off the network mid-race, Djaho keeps taking finishers — it never freezes waiting for it.
The finish-line board For the big screen
Plug a projector or TV into the capture laptop and Djaho puts a second window on it. While a race comes in, the leaders stay up top and the field scrolls beneath. When it’s done, the board reads the full result from first place down. Between races it turns over cards — what’s next, every finished race’s top three, and your own sponsor pictures.
Live: leaders held, the tail scrolls under them. Once the race is final it lists everyone from place 1.

Results out in one click Race-day favourite
The moment a race is captured, hit Auto-Post — or just press Alt+P. Djaho silently prints the result sheet to your results-board printer, copies a formatted table to the clipboard, and drops a CSV and HTML file in your results folder. You choose which outputs, per meeting. No dialogs, no clicking through menus while 200 kids wait.

Team and individual scoring, your rules
Top-N scorers, lowest total wins — set per meeting. Choose how ties are broken, whether B teams score, and what happens to a team that can’t field a full set of scorers: rank last, take a penalty, or be left off the standings.
| Pos | Team | Scorers (places) | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 G | Hogwarts School | 1 · 4 · 6 · 9 | 20 |
| 2 S | Camelot High | 2 · 5 · 7 · 11 | 25 |
| 3 B | Neverland High | 3 · 8 · 10 · 12 | 33 |
| — | Narnia Combined | 13 · 14 · 15 3 of 4 | Not ranked |
Junior and senior sections can score with their own team sizes. Season standings add every round together.

Printouts that carry your brand
Load your competition logo and each meeting's host logo, and they appear on every programme, start sheet, label and result sheet you print. Distances show in km or miles, a weekend meeting prints day by day, and you can weave comments into the printed programme, right between the races.

Barcode bib labels
Print a label for every bib with a barcode on it, then scan it at the line — no hunting for names in a list. Number the sheets across the page or down the column, to match how your table is laid out.
Live results and online entries
Publish results to djaho.co.za as each race lands, and parents follow along on their phones — nothing to install. Take entries online too: individuals or whole teams, with the fee and payment details up front, then pull them into Djaho with one click. Djaho never touches the money; payment goes straight to you.

Team managers can paste their whole team list from Excel instead of typing it. Entries show a PAID tick and an unpaid-by-team report. Dates of birth are never shown publicly.
And that's not the half of it
Djaho runs the whole season, not just one Saturday.
Season-long series
Group meetings into a competition with combined individual and team scoring across the series — standings update as each meeting is captured.
Place vs position
Overall finishing place and rank within each gender + age category, side by side — medals and team points always use the right one.
Two championships, one day
Run a mainstream and an LSEN championship on the same course: they’re counted apart in every report, squad limit and standings table.
Weekend meetings
A meeting can run over several days, with each race on its own day and the programme, sheets and website sorted day by day.
Offline finish-line sync
Export a meeting to a memory stick, capture at the line on a laptop with no signal, import the race file back — everything matches up by bib and order.
Programme printing
Full meet programmes with start times, interleaved announcements and comments, plus bib labels and start sheets — third-party startsheets import too.
Backups & integrity
One-click database backup, restore and health checks — do one before and after every meeting day.
Your data, encrypted
All exports are encrypted in line with POPIA, and everything lives on your own PC — no cloud account required, no internet needed on race day.
Made for South Africa
Rand pricing, PayFast payment, SA school and club conventions — down to auto-correcting “hoerskool” to “hoërskool”.
